I feel it as my privilege to work as a Dean R&D in the esteemed institution like SKNSCOE. To uplift the image of the R&D, we are planning to organize various technical events in the campus with external funding from various organizations and professional bodies like IEI, IGS, IETE, ASHRAE. These events help update the knowledge of the faculty and students in recent technological trends. We are also continuously submitting research proposals to obtain funding from various agencies such as AIM, SERB, DST, AICTE, DRDO, ISRO, MeitY, NCW, BIRAC, RGSTC, MSME, UBA, CSIR, PAHSUS. Faculties are encouraged to publish research papers in refereed journals and to apply for sponsored projects.
The growth of an educational institution is heavily dependent on its research component. Quality research brings good rankings to the institution. This includes parameters like sponsored projects, research publications in SCI and Scopus indexed journals, the number of Ph.Ds, and technical events organized by the college. In the current trend, research is crucial in addition to infrastructural facilities and teaching processes for accreditation and national ranking. To compete with other institutions, we are encouraging faculty to complete their Ph.D degrees quickly and providing financial assistance for presenting research papers at conferences and symposia.
Research labs are essential for promoting quality research and innovative products. We are working with experts to establish R&D labs with high-end equipment across various fields. These labs will support UG, PG, and Ph.D projects and consultancy projects. Regular activities include research forum lectures, value-added courses, and guest lectures by eminent academics and industry professionals. Faculty members are motivated to organize workshops, international conferences, and FDPs to update their domain knowledge.

Roles and Responsibility for Research & Development Cell Sub-committees

1. Research Advisory Committee

To put in place a robust mechanism for developing and strengthening the research ecosystem.
To provide an environment for creation and dissemination of knowledge, innovation, and technology development for societal and industrial needs.
To foster scientific temper.
To generate innovative ideas on academic and societal problems.
To give advice on research matters whenever necessary.

2. Finance and Infrastructure Committee

To prepare annual research plans, implement, and monitor the research activities of the departments with the help of the Research Program and Policy Development Committee.
To prepare the budget for the R&D Cell and disseminate it to all concerned after due sanction by the Principal.
To widen the scope of research options and funding opportunities for faculty and students.
To facilitate timely auditing and submission of utilization certificates.
To provide scope to work on the latest evolving technologies through consultancy projects.
To conduct meetings at least once a quarter to review activities.

3. Research Program, Policy Development Committee

To prepare policy documents for research projects and publications.
To conduct meetings with the Finance and Infrastructure Committee for implementation strategies.
To call for research proposals from funding agencies to be uploaded on the RDC website portal daily.
To keep everyone informed about announcements by various funding agencies.
To support the development of research proposals from university teachers for external funding.
To encourage, coordinate, and implement Research and Development Programs (workshops/seminars/trainings).
To prepare reports on activities for the Research Advisory Committee every quarter.

4. Collaboration and Community Committee

To develop networking and collaborative research of departments.
To report activities to the Research Advisory Committee every quarter.
To establish liaison with industry and identify technological challenges.
To take up industry problems for solutions through R&D projects.
To initiate and promote existing MoUs with industries and R&D organizations.
To depute senior faculty to research organizations for collaborative projects and consultancy.

5. Product Development, Monitoring, and Commercialization Committee

To report activities to the Research Advisory Committee every quarter.
To create SOPs for transforming research work into suitable products.
To support students and faculty in proposal development and budgeting for product development.
To monitor costs and guide researchers on commercialization.
To assist researchers in publishing their work on appropriate forums.

6. IPR, Legal and Ethical Matters Committee

To validate research work for patenting and report to the Research Advisory Committee quarterly.
To receive and review research proposals and expenditure details.
To ensure compliance with sponsor and institute policies for costs.
To send signed proposals for submission or upload to funding agencies.
To report activities to the Research Advisory Committee quarterly.
