In the academic year 2020-2021, SKNSCOE established the Institution Innovation Council under the Ministry of Education (MoE) through MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC) in collaboration with AICTE to systematically foster the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystem in the institute. Primarily, the IIC’s role is to engage a large number of faculty, students, and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities such as ideation, problem solving, proof of concept development, design thinking, IPR, project handling and management at the pre-incubation/incubation stage, etc., so that the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem gets established and stabilized in the institute.
Since the establishment of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), all IIC-driven, MIC-driven, and self-driven activities and day celebrations are conducted regularly in the institute. The institute has established a pre-incubation center, incubation center, and IPR cell. It has an entrepreneurship development cell functional for the last 13 years. To foster an innovation culture, subjects like product development and entrepreneurship, creativity and design thinking, mini projects, and capstone projects are included in the NEP syllabus. The institute supports I and E activities by providing the institute’s innovation and startup policy. The incubation center has six collaborations with other incubation centers, including PAH Solapur University’s Udyam Center. The institute has received a 4-star rating consecutively from the Ministry of Education and has strengthened its activities along with Atal Innovation Centers in nearby schools. In the academic year 2023-24, the institute has worked as a mentor institute by providing support to five mentee institutes.
